Monthly Summary, January

Monthly Summary, January

Sorry I’m late with my monthly summary. I’ve been a little behind this month. I decided to do #febphotoaday and didn’t even realise that had started until around 10pm on the 02 February! You would think that doing the month end in work would have helped me to realise that February has landed, but no, my head is obviously up in the clouds somewhere!

February (Listeni/ˈfɛbjuːˌɛri/ or /ˈfɛbrˌɛri/) is the second month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. It is the shortest month and the only month with fewer than 30 days. The month has 28 days in common years and 29 days in leap years.
In the Southern Hemisphere, February is the seasonal equivalent of August in the Northern Hemisphere.
February starts on the same day of the week as March and November in common years, and on the same day of the week as August in leap years. February ends on the same day of the week as October every year and January in common years only. In leap years, it is the only month that ends on the same weekday it begins.

Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream. I picked this up quite cheaply in Boots a while back, it was on the till with a reduced sticker on it, I’m always looking for decent oil free moisturisers so picked it up. I’m still undecided on this product. It was okay. I have oily skin but get a lot of dry spots from my acne, when using this I felt that it didn’t work as well on these dry patches as other moisturisers I have used previously. I won’t be re-purchasing.

I can’t believe that this was the only product I managed to use up in January! I’m slacking.

I’ve been wearing Bertie again lately. I go through phases with jewellery, I wear something all the time then don’t wear it for ages. Bertie does reappear quite often, he is privileged! I bought him from Dainty Roses a while back.

I’m so in love with my AX Paris quilted jacket. I was lucky enough to win Sarah’s giveaway which was an item of my choice from AX Paris. I’d been wanting a quilted jacket for ages so decided to get this one, it ticks all the boxes right down to the corduroy elbow patches.

The most amazing foundation ever! I will definitely be purchasing the full size of this when little sample runs out. You can read my review of Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum cover foundation here.

I received this Neal & Wolf Super Shine Spray in my September GlossyBox. I initially tried it, put it away and never got it back out. I dug it back out in January and have been loving using it when wearing my, new very long, hair down.

I’m planning to start reading more often. I finished this book in January and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it has bought back my passion for reading. The book is all about a loving little boy, it can get quite confusing at times because the story goes back and fore between the years. Its definitely worth sticking with.

Looking back…
I had a night out in Cardiff at the beginning of the month to celebrate two of my friend’s birthdays. I had finished taking my antibiotics by then but wasn’t supposed to drink for seven days afterwards. This was the seventh day. I did drink but only a little. It was quite a revelation being sober in Cardiff, the best fun I had was in Burger King and on the bus on the way home, I have realised that I’m a pub girl not a club girl.
I had an impromptu night out with some of my friends from work, some of my other friends also came along. We had a fantastic night up until the part where my work friends’ bag was stolen. I hate thieves. They have got the girl who stole it and she will be up in Court shortly. Scum.
At the end of the month I finally managed to scrape all my hair (including my almost grown out fringe) up into a top knot for the first time! Its growing really quickly.
I haven’t really done a lot else, been out for some nice meals and eaten a lot of good food, which is exactly what I wanted to do in January.
The lovely Bex declared my blog her blog of the month! So chuffed, thank you so much!

Looking forward…
Six Nations 🙂 I love a good bit of rugby, I’m so patriotic and get really carried away with it. I haven’t been looking forward to it as much as usual but am slowly getting excited for our first match tomorrow.
11.2.12 TOWIB. I finally decided to go. I was umming and ahhing between LDN Lunch and TOWIB for quite a while, settled on LDN Lunch then realised that I had double booked, I’m going to a wedding that day. I have now bought my ticket and booked my bus for TOWIB. Super excited for that. One week today!
14.2.12 Valentine’s day. No doubt I won’t have anything because Spencer aparently doesn’t believe in Valentine’s day. I personally think it is because he is a tight git. I have signed up to the Valentine’s swap though so am super excited for that!
17.2.12 Mine and Spencer’s five year anniversary, I will make sure we celebrate that no matter how much he moans.
22.2.12 Spencer’s birthday. I really hope that he likes his gifts and what I have planned for us.
25.2.12 I am going to Cardiff for a friends birthday. Wales are playing England in the Six Nations, the match isn’t in Cardiff but the atmosphere should still be pretty good. We’re getting a limo there and back as it actually works out cheaper than taxis! I haven’t been in a limo for years!

Have you got any exciting plans for February? What were your highlights of January?

    Bertie is so cute! 🙂

It sounds like you've had a nice month – I'm going to TOWIB next weekend as well…can't wait! First blogger event – I just hope the outfit I have planned will keep me warm now it's suddenly gone stupidly cold again! xx

I love him 🙂 My mam loved him so much I bought her one for Christmas so we now have matching necklaces, I can't remember what my mam called hers now, something random knowing my mother!

I have no idea what to wear, I did have something in mind but its not warm enough. I just hope that we don't get any more snow. I'll be quite annoyed if I can't go after all this deliberating! x

  2. 4th February 2012 / 7:54 pm

Can't wait to see you at towib! 🙂 Love that necklace, I have a major thing for owls at the moment xx

    sweet monday

I cannot wait to see you again 🙂 So excited now! I hope that we don't have any more snow, I'll be quite annoyed if the weather ruins this!

Who can resist a cute owl 🙂 x

  3. 4th February 2012 / 9:26 pm

Sounds like a really good month! I've just purchased the Nivea moisturiser you mentioned and it seems ok so far but nothing special so I'll have to see how it goes 🙂 xxx

    • 5th February 2012 / 9:51 am

It was okay, I did use it all up so that goes to show that it wasn't too bad, just as you say, nothing special x

  4. 4th February 2012 / 10:30 pm

It sounds like Jan's been a good start to the year! I absolutely love your new jacket! I'm so upset – this is my first time in four years that I'm not in Wales for the Six Nations, it's really not the same in England 🙁 xxx

    • 5th February 2012 / 9:52 am

It really has been good so far 🙂

The jacket is lovely isn't it, so chuffed that I got it.

I'm gutted for you not being in Wales, I always have to go to Cardiff for at least one match even if I haven't got tickets. You should get the megabus here 🙂 xx

  5. 4th February 2012 / 10:45 pm

I may have to try double wear foundation. I don't have anywhere close where I can get colour matched but I really must make a point of going and getting a sample I'm intrigued especially after you rave review 😛 Men are always tight gits aren't they?! 😛 My boy and I dont do valentines day either because our anniversary in 3 days after so we celebrate that instead… personally I think we should do both! 😛

As you know I highly recommend it. It makes me feel so much more confident when wearing it.

Mine is quite well known around here for being a tight git. Our anniversary is also three days after Valetine's day 🙂 We don't usually celebrate our anniversary but as this one is 5 years I'm making him celebrate! x

  6. 5th February 2012 / 12:13 am

I'm certain Sophie will get back to you about your question, but since I saw it, twitchers are avid bird watchers!!! Hello, nice to meet you! I like Bertie, he's very cute!

    • 5th February 2012 / 9:56 am

Thanks Kezzie, nice to meet you too 🙂 I was a little confused by this comment at first, I thought you were making up rhymes to do with twitter haha! Then I remembered my comment on Sophie's post and I no longer think your insane!
      Bertie is adorable 🙂 xx

  7. 5th February 2012 / 11:32 am

Bertie is such a great name! Things I have to look forward to in February…working 🙁 and not spending any money as I am trying to curb my shopping after the January sales! Just found your blog and loving it already so you have gained a new follower hehe 🙂

Hello there new follower 🙂 Thank you for your lovely comment.
I have too much work to not look forward to too, I try and forget about that. xx

  8. 5th February 2012 / 1:15 pm

I really like the jacket! I think the blue colours look a lot nicer than the green and black ones I've seen around – great choice!
Also with the double wear, I've just read your review and I want to try it! I know you said they were more than happy to hand over a sample but did you have to buy something else from the counter in order to get one? I don't want to be frowned upon by the scary makeup ladies!

    • 5th February 2012 / 1:31 pm

Thank you, I too prefer the blue ones.
I highly recommend that foundation. I didn't buy anything, all I asked was if they did colour matching, next thing I knew I was colour matched and sent away with a sample! Great customer service x

  9. 5th February 2012 / 1:28 pm

    Rugby today!!
I haven't seen a thing about TOWIB but I will be going to ldnlunch. I don't have much going on in Feb, bit skit this month but a lot planned for March. Lots of gigs and trips x

    • 5th February 2012 / 1:34 pm

Yay for rugby, I'm still deciding whether to watch it at home in my PJs or go to the pub!
Shame you hadn't heard about TOWIB, its sold out now 🙁
Gutted I can't go to LDN Lunch. xx

  10. 5th February 2012 / 4:59 pm

I wouldn't go thinking I'm not insane just yet!!!! Mwa ha ha!!!!!!
This book looks really good, I might have to give it a try! I was going to try Canterbury tales yesterday but after one page I thought NO way can I stand this- it's worse than translating novels for German A-level!!!

    • 5th February 2012 / 6:49 pm

haha!! It is a good book, confusing at first with all the switching of the years but really good. Mental note to self to not read Canterbury tales then! x
