Carmine Box : February Edition

Carmine Box : February Edition

As you know from my previous post I was lucky enough to win the January Carmine box. I was also lucky enough to get hold of the February box using a discount code, it worked out at something stupid like £4.80 including postage – bargain!

Andrea Fulerton Nail Varnish Paris 5.5ml full size £4.99
Carmine say : Developed by celebrity nail technician Andrea Fulerton, these popular shades are incredibly glossy and long lasting. Try it and you’ll be up there with celeb clients including Mischa Barton, Kylie Minogue and Penelope Cruz!

I say : Can’t go wrong with a pink nail varnish, even though I’m sure I already own way too many! This looks like a lovely colour.

Yardley London PEONY Fragrance 1ml value approx £0.20 Bonus Product

Carmine say : This fresh, feminine fragrance captures the scent of the delicate peony flower and compliments it with delightful fruity notes and warm amber undertones. It’s as if Yardley London managed to take spring and put it in a bottle!

I say : My sample looks half empty! I’m not sure if they were all that full or if I’m missing some, it certainly hasn’t leaked because there isn’t any scent on anything else. I really, really love this fragrance and am definitely planning on re-purchasing this.

 The Balm FratBoy All-in-one shadow/blush 8.5g full size £16.34

Carmine say : Want to get noticed by those college frat boys? This peachy-apricot-coloured blush doubles up as an eye shadow and miraculously adds life to any skin tone. So hold the ketchup, here’s a taste of vintage America that will also go nicely in your handbag.

I say : I love The Balm. Their packaging is always so adorable! Really pleased to receive this. The shade is perfect for me and, as I’ve already said, I love the packaging!

Daniel Sandler Eye Delight Ice 3g full size £10.25

Carmine say : A pot of sweet, shimmery dust to give your eyes a little something to smile about. Created by professional make-up artist Daniel Sandler, this incredibly versatile eye colour can be swept across the eyelids or mixed with water for a bolder effect.

I say : I shouldn’t be allowed loose powder products like this, I’m way too clumsy. Clumsiness aside I really love this product. The colour is beautiful and has a gorgeous shimmery to it. I’ve been wanting to try more Daniel Sandler products for a while and my wish has been granted with this.

Full size available from Tesco for £14, assuming this is 1/4 of the size value approx £3.50

Carmine say : The premium Italian brand used by top make-up artists, this elegant, intense pigment lipstick provides the perfect touch of long lasting colour. Chic and en vogue, it’s all you need for La Dolce Vita.

I say : First up, my main annoyance with this sample. The lipstick doesn’t wind down! I am so clumsy that I will end up snapping it. Grumbles aside this is a lovely lipstick. It feels really nice on and the colour is very wearable.

Carmine say : Get ready to brush your way to a sexy smile, a la Jessica Alba. From the Australian brand that makes formulas for coffee and tea drinkers, just a drop of this whitening toothpaste will leave your pearly whites in absolute mint condition!

I say : Not something I expected to receive in a beauty box, quite a good idea though. I do suffer with sensitive teeth so I am a little weary about ditching my Sensodyne to try this. I may use it alongside my Sensodyne for a while to see if my teeth are any whiter.

 In summary…

Total box contents approximately £35.84.
I received six products, two of which were full size.
I like that instead of including the perfume sample as one of our monthly items like many other boxes controversially do, they included it as a bonus product.
I did have one little gripe with this box, they didn’t provide any links to the products on their information card, instead they provided the companies Twitter name. I think providing the Twitter name is a great idea, but I do like to see the direct product link too.
Another impressive box from Carmine, seriously considering ditching GlossyBox and sticking with Carmine.

You can subscribe to Carmine for £10 + £2.75 P&P per month.

*Disclaimer : If you purchase a GlossyBox by clicking through on the link that I have provided I will be rewarded with points, which will go towards a free box for myself.*

My box was different to yours on two products. Im new to the whole box thing. Is that quite common? X

Hi, as far as I'm aware with Carmine they are usually the same. They did sell out of the February box which meant the new subscribers got a different box. Original subscribers would have already received the FratBoy & eyeshadow in the October box. xx

    • 6th March 2012 / 7:24 pm

Ahh! I got a balance me body wash & a tub of steam cream instead. Not that I'm complaining, all 4 products look pretty good! I just wondered 🙂 x

    • 6th March 2012 / 8:27 pm

You got the original February box then, I think there was quite a bit of drama over people getting the box that I got when they expected the one that you got! x

    • 6th March 2012 / 8:29 pm

I still can't bring myself to cancel Glossy, I'm wondering how long it will be until the OH realises that I have 3 subscriptions and goes crazy ha! x

I unsubbed from Glossybox because of the whole payment issue problem after the Valentines themed box. I'm having a bit of a break from beauty boxes but when I do sign up to them again I'm pretty tempted by Carmine – you've got some lovely products in this one! xx

    • 6th March 2012 / 9:06 pm

I was going to un-sub from GB but the promise of a box teamed with Harrods this month has kept me for another month. They are very good at making you want to stay I'll give them that!
I'm really impressed with Carmine's offerings so far x

    • 6th March 2012 / 9:07 pm

Both products are really lovely, though I'm sure I'll snap or loose the lipstick soon! x

I got the same box, was a little disappointed at first as I had subscribed in January and my blusher arrived covered in dust. It was a little unappealing to think it had been sat in a warehouse since October, but the packaging/colour is lovely. Was very happy with the nailpolish and eyeshadow though!

I subscribed to Glossybox for the Harrods box, so I think I'll compare the 2 and pick one 🙂

    • 7th March 2012 / 7:55 pm

It is annoying that your blusher was dusty!
I am really looking forward to receiving my Harrods box, if this one disappoints me I'll definitely be leaving GB x

  4. 7th March 2012 / 12:37 am

I love that they included Daniel Sandler! Extra brownie point from me already, defo choosing Carmine over Glossybox! I also like the fact that they including the perfume sample as a bonus product instead xxx

    • 7th March 2012 / 7:55 pm

The Daniel Sandler went down very well with me too! The perfume being a bonus was a great touch x

  5. 7th March 2012 / 1:17 am

I had the exact same problem with the perfume sample mine was like 2 3rds full so it must be everyones. 🙂

    • 7th March 2012 / 7:56 pm

At least it wasn't just mine then, I was so confused as to how it had leaked but nothing was wet/smelt! x

  6. 7th March 2012 / 12:47 pm

Looks like a nice stash- I really like the look of the FratBoy blush!

    Nat x

    • 7th March 2012 / 7:56 pm

The Fratboy blush is great, the packaging is too cute! x

  7. 11th March 2012 / 10:12 am

Mine was different from yours too. I got steam cream and the body wash like Dawn. Maybe it's a regional thing as me and her are both in Scotland. That's the only thing I can think of.

My nail polish was a very pale pink sort of colour. I like yours better but then again I also have a million darker pink nail polishes so probably better I got a lighter one.

    • 11th March 2012 / 8:11 pm

The different boxes were due to when people signed up & if you were a new subscriber as they ran out of the original Feb box. You received the original box.

It is always good to have a nice shade that you wouldn't normally go for x

    • 11th March 2012 / 10:08 pm

Ah, thanks for clearing that one up! For the record, I think I would have rather got YOUR box! 🙂
