Review : June JolieBox

Review : June JolieBox
Yesterday, the 06th July, I received my June JolieBox. I’m sure that by now you are all aware of the mix up with the delivery, which isn’t actually JolieBox’s fault, it is their delivery company, UK Mail, who are at fault. I patiently waited for my box and didn’t lash out at JB as I knew it wasn’t their fault. I do, however, feel that JB made one very poor decision, to avoid delaying the boxes further they advised UK Mail to re-label all of the boxes. This meant that a) we didn’t get our original box which included a customised product and b) if you peel the label back you can see another person’s full name and address. With all the fraud about at the moment I feel that this is a really bad move by JB, I personally would have preferred to wait another few days to receive the correct box and not have my personal details floating around.
Anyway, onto the box…
As it is JolieBox’s first birthday this months limited edition boxes were designed by two different designers. The two varieties were this one (which I was very happy to receive!) by Mzelle Fraise and a bright orange one by creative duo Och Studio.
The aim for June was to offer us a sneak peak into French Culture with an exclusive selection of their favourite French brands.
The contents…
Elysambre Long Eyelashes Mascara shade 03 9ml (full size) priced at around £13
JolieBox say : Elysambre’s gentle make-up and nail ranges were made using innovative technologies and features all-natural vegetal active ingredients.

I say : First off, the packaging is horrible! The box is fine, but the mascara really isn’t very aesthetically pleasing. The mascara is made using 99% natural original ingredients and 35% of vegetal active ingredients which really impresses me. I’m yet to try this but will pop a review up once I have.

Institut Esthederm UV inCellium Spray 20ml value approx £5.00
JolieBox say : A pre-tanning treatment which will boost skin’s natural defences and ensure a long-lasting tan.

I say : Being so pale this does scare me a little, I worry that things like this may make me burn. This product is for the face and body. The warning on the bottle does state to use alongside sun protection when exposure is prolonged or intense. If we ever get a sunny day I may pop some of this on with my high factor sun tan lotion and see if it does anything.
L’Occitane Angelica Hydration Cream 15ml value approx £8.70
JolieBox say : A smooth facial cream that reinforces natural skin hydration and leaves skin looking radiant and fresh.

I say : I love L’Occitane products so look forward to using this. This is a thick cream so I will use this before bed. It does have quite a powerful smell which I like, but this may put others off. The L’Occitane website describes this as being suitable for dry to normal skin, I have oily skin so this isn’t really ideal.

JolieBox say : Ideal for thin and limp hair, this detangling shampoo gives hair volume, vigour and support.

I say : I’m not sure if I was actually supposed to receive this. I have heard about existing subscribers receiving the bonus items for new subscribers, I think this may be one of them :-/ My hair is quite thick but it does lack volume so I look forward to trying this. It smells amazing.
JolieBox say : This lightweight facial cream protects skin from external factors, making complexion look hydrated and bright.

I say : This is the first customised product that JolieBox have sent out, unfortunately, due to the mix up in boxes I didn’t get the right one for me. I haven’t opened this yet and am hoping to be able to swap it. Please comment below if you received normal to oily skin and would be interested in swapping with me. This is quite an expensive product so I would ideally like to trial the one that is most suited to my skin.
Extra items…
As it was their birthday box JolieBox saw fit to shower us with gifts. We received this little nail file, a random discount code to spend at the Jolie shop (I received 10% discount, I wonder what was in my original box though…), a card entitling us to a free Angelica cleanser when buying a full size Angelica moisturiser from L’Occitane and a 30% discount code to spend at Codage.
Overall Verdict:
  • The total box value is approximately £57.55 which is absolutely amazing value!
  • For reasons behind JolieBox’s control the most expensive product in the box is unsuitable for my skin, this is quite annoying and I really do hope that they do something a little extra special in either the July or August box to make up for the errors this month.
  • I will use most of the products and definitely display the box proudly! £10 very well spent.
Did you receive the June JolieBox? What were your thoughts on it?

I can't believe that they just stuck your details over someone elses. I wouldn't be happy knowing someone else had my name & address! x

No, I'm not happy about it at all, fraud is so rife now without freely passing personal details around! x

Hi Leanne! I got the same box and same contents (thought I got a mini lipstick rather than a mascara) such a lovely box! Due to the mix up I got the normal to oily skin cream when I'm much more of a dry skin person so would be happy to swap with you if you'd like? xx

The address mix up was very annoying, I've calmed down a bit now though 🙂
