JolieBox : It’s Not You, It’s Me

JolieBox : It’s Not You, It’s Me
It pains me to say that I have cancelled my JolieBox subscription. Having been with JolieBox since day one, back when they were with Boudoir Prive we’ve had our ups and downs, but have always remained friends.
I’ve been thinking a lot about beauty boxes and my skin lately. Over the period of time that I have subscribed to beauty boxes (GlossyBox, Carmine, JolieBox) I have received a heck of a lot of different facial skin care products. I suffer with oily skin and acne and I really do wonder if the constant chopping and changing of facial skin care products is doing my skin any good.
I have now come to the point where I want to get into a good routine, with good facial skin care products and stick to it. While in Benefit at the weekend the lady used their oil free moisturiser on me, I had been thinking of cancelling for a while but this made my mind up for me. This made me realise that it is time to invest in good quality facial skin care and stick to it.
I do plan on using up all of my products that I already have in my overflowing drawer, and after that it is my mission to find the perfect skincare!
If only there was a beauty box that contained just make-up…
It pains me to say it, but sorry JolieBox, we are over (I actually think I’ve paid for the September box already so after that we’re over!)
Do you still subscribe to beauty boxes? Are you getting fed up of constantly changing your skincare products?

    I'm too fussy about what sort of thing I use to have ever subscribed;

a makeup box and I might be sold, but just beauty would be an epic waste of my money.

I'm now starting to realise how much money I've wasted. Even make-up would be risky but more fun 🙂 x

I subbed to Joliebox for a year sub and I now pay Amarya monthly. Love Latest in Beauty boxes x

Latest in Beauty do look great but I still feel there is too much skin care x

Ditto to what Daisychain said above. I always feel guilty if I chop and change skincare because I feel that I never give it long enough to make any difference and get into a routine. If you're after trying out some Benefit they have a £10 set out with trial sizes of their skincare. I'm thinking about getting it but not quite sure. I don't want to upset the applecart!

Thanks for pointing out the Benefit set, I may have to give it a go! x

I'm not subscribed to any beauty boxes just now. I just get an insane amount of products that I don't use, despite the great concept! I'd love to subscribe to Crafty Creative though! I love doing craft stuff!

Crafty Creatives are amazing, I'm currently compiling my post about what I received in this month's box 🙂 x

  5. 19th September 2012 / 7:41 pm

I would love a pure makeup box too, that would be brilliant! x

    • 19th September 2012 / 8:45 pm

It would be awesome! Granted we'd still receive things we didn't want and in the wrong shades but it'd be a lot more fun x

  6. 19th September 2012 / 8:18 pm

I've never subscribed to a box. It's about £120 a year which means I could get three-four full size high end products for that price xx

    • 19th September 2012 / 8:46 pm

It is a lot of money when you think of it like that :-/ x

I know what you mean, in all honesty the thought of cancelling has crossed my mind too! It was exciting at first and it still is when you first receive the box but if it's full of skin products I have to admit my heart drops a little… depends on the box through of course. Then again I have found some amazing products from JolieBox and GlossyBox so I guess it's swings and roundabouts really. And like Gem said above it's £120 p/a (more than!) and that is a lot of money xx

It is such a difficult decision to leave isn't it? I think signing up to Crafty Creatives helped make my mind up because I still get my surprise box each month but it never annoys me! Even if I don't use the things that I receive in their boxes straight away I can use them years down the line.
I have found some good products and will miss discovering new things, but then that is why I read blogs which is a cheaper way of discovering things.

I've been feeling exactly the same as you about my skin lately. I haven't got any beauty box subscriptions on the go, but between the products I have purchased and those I won in a giveaway of late, I've been experimenting quite a lot and have seen my skin go from being basically fine to having an oily t-zone and regular breakouts in the same area. There I was, thinking I was doing my skin the world of good, and have even actually settled into a routine lately, but it seems that the whole time I really was just doing my skin more harm that good. It's unbelievable, but I've actually gone back to absolute basics this week and am using just a Clean and Clear facewash reminiscent of my very early teen years (never thought I'd be using that again!) and it's actually cleared it up in just a couple of days. My complexion is looking A LOT healthier! Madness.

Sometimes all these fancy products just aren't worth it!
So glad to hear that your skin is looking healthier. x

I never signed up to any of the beauty boxes, purely because there are so many to choose from I just couldn't decide. I hate it when it comes to changing my skincare routine, I have sensitive and dry skin so I have to avoid things that are heavily scented or could break me out which is a pain. I've finally found a good skincare routine and I slowly introduce items to see if they are good or my skin agrees with it. It's annoying having sensitive skin but there are a lot of good sensitive items around now. xx

my skin can be quite sensitive and breaks out very easily, any little thing triggers off my acne, quite annoying! x

I want an all make up box toooo! Maybe one month we should make one for each other?! xx

That sounds good to me! Maybe in the new year when my Wedding & Xmas are out of the way? x
