I was lucky enough to receive a few items from the Marks & Spencer Gastropub range to review, and when I say lucky, I mean really lucky, as you can see from the pictures.
For the first meal we decided to have a proper stodge fest with fillet of Beef Wellington and smoked mash with caramelised ale onions. Annoyingly I left the oven on one gas mark too high so the Beef Wellington burnt a little, I chopped the burnt top off and thoroughly enjoyed. The beef was real tender and full of flavour. The mash was also very tasty, the caramelised onions added that extra special something.
Next up we ate the Beetroot & Celeriac Gratin along with Smoked Haddock and Potato Rarebit. The rarebit contained two decent sized haddock fillets and again was packed full of flavour. Neither of us knew what to expect from the Beetroot dish and were both very pleasantly surprised with it, it was such an unusual dish but again really delicious.
Last, but by no means least, we tried the runny poached scotch eggs. I couldn’t wait to cut into this to test the runny-ness, as soon as I cut into it the yolk oozed out. They were succulent and really very tasty, with a slight spicy edge to them.
Have you tried the M&S Gastropub range? If so what is your favourite? I really can’t pick a favourite from this selection as it was all so good in different ways!
