Sorry about the blogging gap, I decided to really relax this Christmas and not even switch on my laptop, today is the first time in probably about a week that I have turned it on. I have really enjoyed the break but am itching to get back into blogging. So, here I am, wishing you all a belated but sincere Merry Christmas and sharing with you the things that I have enjoyed most.
Christmas decorations. We have a random mixture of decorations on our tree, I aim to buy one new decoration each year but usually end up buying more! I like our tree to tell a story about us and hope that by collecting items over the years it will eventually be full of memories.
Wrapping Gifts. This year I decided to make a real effort with my gift wrapping. I used brown paper and a collection of different items (a lot from past Crafty Creatives boxes) to pretty them up. I made salt dough cookies using items from Tala* (blog post about them here), stamps and a label maker to address the different presents. I’m so pleased with how they turned out and received quite a few compliments before people tore the paper open.
Parties/Spending Time With Loved Ones. I absolutely love catching up with friends old and new over Christmas and look forward to it every year. I’m hoping that the Christmas jumper pub crawl with the girls will become a yearly tradition as will the new PJ’s/onesies for Spencer and I on Christmas Eve.
Spencer bought me a silly dancing/singing/light up Santa hat which I wore when visiting the family on Christmas Day, it gave them all a very good laugh and my nephew absolutely loved it.
My work’s Christmas party is always a blast. This year we had a Wild West theme and everyone looked great. I ordered a lot of the decorations so it was amazing to see how it all came together.
One of my favourite Christmas things is catching up with my old school friend Andrew who lives in London. Every year we meet up for Christmas Eve drinks and have an amazing time. This year was made even funnier by the fact that him and my mother were wearing the same jumper!
Randoms. Visiting Christmas markets. This year I went to Bath and Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland, both of these places really got me into the festive spirit.
Lazy days in bed cwtching the cats are bliss and a great way to relax during the holidays.
Playing board games, for some reason our board games only ever make an appearance at Christmas time. We dug Monopoly out last night and Bob really wanted to join in.
Sparkles and lots of sparkles are a Christmas must.
Festive Food and Drinks. I use Christmas as an excuse to eat, a lot. I make the most of my week off work by preparing delicious breakfasts and then sitting around all day eating chocolate and drinking, I can usually be found with a Baileys or Snowball in my hand at Christmas time. Of course there is the Christmas dinner too, we had dinner at my parents this year, in my opinion my parent’s Christmas dinner is unbeatable. We had a lovely view while eating our dinner this year, though we all commented on the fact that it looked more like Easter day then Christmas day.
Presents – Giving and Receiving. I am the first to admit that I have been very, very lucky present wise this year. I love nosing at what people have received so hope that my readers will enjoy nosing at what I’ve received. My camera was obviously my main present this year, bought for me by both my husband and my brother-in-law (Spencer asked for contributions as it was out of budget!). I also took part in two secret Santa’s this year, one with work and one organised by the lovely Char. Sheri bought my gifts and sent me this amazing cat hat and nail varnish set along with a bag of Minstrels which were devoured long before I had time to take a photo!
I hope you enjoyed reading about my Christmas faves!
