A little while ago Georgina convinced me to try grocery shopping on-line with Waitrose. We decided to give it a go, we weren’t sure what to expect price wise but we knew that the food would be good. Our first shop came in at £5 more than the same shop with Tesco (yes, I did do the entire shop on both websites to compare!), Waitrose offer free delivery on a spend of £50 or more which resulted in an instant saving of that £5.
One of the great things that we have found since shopping with Waitrose is that they very often have amazing deals which result in the entire shop being a complete bargain, and I love a bargain. One of these great deals is their 2 dine for £10 offer, the offer isn’t currently running but will most likely pop up again soon so keep your eyes peeled!
For £10 you get a starter, main, side and a choice of either a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates. I decided to make two meals with my items as we don’t tend to eat starters at home.
For the first meal we had a light lunch using the starter and the side. The smoked salmon parcels are absolutely delicious, so full of flavour and paired with the side salad & dressing made for a lovely lunch.
For our main we bought the pork leg joint with roasted pepper stuffing, this is described as easy to cook and it really is, you literally just put it in the oven and leave it for 40 minutes. I’d never tried roasted pepper stuffing before and am a huge fan of peppers so was eager to try this, and it didn’t disappoint. Served with broccoli, cauliflower and roasted sweet potatoes this made a very simple to cook yet very tasty evening meal.
Choosing between chocolates and wine was a difficult decision. We eventually settled on chocolate as we could eat these straight away without worrying about being hungover for work the next day.
The chocolates were gorgeous and thankfully came with two layers which meant that we both got to try every flavour.
We are both hoping that Waitrose have another similar deal soon!
