Don’t Think About Purple Elephants* by Susan Whelan is a book written to help anxious children. Peas in a Pod* by Tania McCartney and Tina Sterling celebrates the importance of individuality.
Don’t Think About Purple Elephants tells the story of a little girl named Sophie, Sophie is a happy girl during the days when she is busy but when trying to sleep she worries about things and works herself up. One night, before bed, Sophie’s mother tells her not to think about purple elephants, that night, instead of her usual worrying, all she can think about is purple elephants!
Peas in a Pod tells the story of Pippa, Pia, Poppy, Polly and Peg who all look exactly the same. They are always dressed the same and always doing the same things. One day they decide that enough is enough, they dress how they want and do what they want, all becoming their own unique person.
Both books are beautifully illustrated and really well written. Two great children’s books with important messages.
