A while ago I wrote a review of the sweet crepes in Cardiff Crepeaffaire, I have since been back to trial the savoury crepes and will now be sharing my thoughts on those.
My sister and I called into Crepeaffaire while out shopping in St David’s, Cardiff, it is in a fantastic location making it the ideal pit stop when shopping.
Between us we ordered the Le Goat Deluxe (goats cheese, cheddar cheese, spinach, caramelised onions and red onions) with a side salad, the Green Thai Chicken Crepe, a mint chocolate milkshake and a Nutella milkshake.*
Once again our crepes were jam packed with filling, this is a huge plus point for me as a half full crepe is always such a let down! The addition of a side salad (costing around £1.50) transforms the savoury crepe into a very satisfying lunch costing around £7 in total.
I didn’t sample my sister’s crepe but she thoroughly enjoyed it, although she did struggle towards the end as it was getting a little spicy, like me, she doesn’t handle spice well. My crepe was delicious, the flavour combination is a winner, so many beautiful flavours in one and the crepe itself was lovely, thin and crisp but not at all dry.
I love that I captured the reflection of the Crepeaffaire heart in my milkshake. The milkshakes were also very delicious and not too heavy like a lot of places, they were just right. The mint wasn’t too overpowering in my chocolate mint shake, just the right amount.
One thing that has changed since my last visit is that they no longer bring the food over to you. When you order you are given a buzzer, when this goes off you go to the counter to collect your order. As Crepeaffaire is more of a coffee shop than a restaurant I found this to be more than acceptable and makes great sense as it frees the staff up to make more delicious food!
Do you prefer savoury or sweet crepes? If it wasn’t too greedy I’d have a savoury for lunch and a sweet for pudding!
