You may have already seen the contents of the June Degustabox* in my unboxing vlog, now that I’ve had a chance to try out the contents of the box I figure it is about time I shared my thoughts on the items and what I did with them.
Zeo Cloudy Lemon – This is lovely, very refreshing and fantastic to keep in the fridge during heatwaves like the one that we are currently experiencing.
Haywards Medium and Tangy Silverskins – We’ve been snacking on these with chunks of cheese and they are lovely, for us picked onions are a fridge staple so we were glad to receive them in our box.
Branston Spicy Tomato Relish – I’m not a great fan of spicy things so I haven’t used this, Spencer has and he commented that it packed a punch and was enjoyable.
Smooze Mango & Coconut – The freeze at home fruit ice pouches are lovely, I expected them to be similar to jubbly as they are the same concept and come in very similar packaging – but I was surprised, pleasantly surprised. They are made from all natural ingredients including 40% coconut milk and this gives them a lovely consistency and a very refreshing taste. I’m actually eating one of these as I type this, they are perfect for hot days and also teething babies as we discovered!
Butterkist Yoghurt Coated Popcorn – This is delicious, Aria and I love snacking on this when we are a little bit peckish while waiting for daddy to come home from work so that we can eat our tea. At only 95 calories per serving I don’t feel guilty munching away on it, although I do tend to get carried away and have more than one serving…
Miracle Noodle Angel Hair – These noodles are free of pretty much everything, including calories! We ate ours with a Thai Green curry (pictured below). They had a bit of an odd consistency, they were quite rubbery BUT they were okay, considering that they contain next to nothing and can be eaten by pretty much everyone with every dietary requirement under the sun they weren’t half bad.
Heinz Amoy Coconut Milk – I used this to make the suggested Thai Green Curry recipe, I love coconut milk so knew I would enjoy this. The recipe was quick and easy to make and very tasty. To make this curry you will need : 1 tbsp vegetable oil, 4-5 tbsp Thai green curry paste, 400g chicken breast, 400ml Amoy Coconut milk, 2 tbsp Amoy soy sauce, 1 pack of green beans and half pack baby corn. You simply stir fry the chicken and curry paste for five minutes; add the coconut milk, soy sauce and veg then bring to the boil; simmer for ten minutes and you’re done! Very simple and very tasty.
Marstons Lager – I was pleased to see this in the box as I love lager, it is my drink of choice. Unfortunately this one wasn’t my drink of choice, it was far too bitter for my liking, but, paired with the Zeo cloudy lemonade it made a delicious and refreshing shandy.
Schwartz Grill Mates American Smokehouse – This was simple to use, you simply mixed it in with your beef mince, formed burger patties and fried/grilled until ready. Such a simple addition yet such a big impact into the flavour of the burgers. We make burgers quite often so will definitely buying this again.
Sacla Pesto Pots – These are fab to have in the cupboard as they are so easy to use and can completely change a dish. I used mine by adding a pot to drained, cooked pasta and then grating cheese over the top. A very delicious meal.
Bakedin Chocolate Mug Brownie Mix – This is the product that I got most excited over, and I was right to. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t the most mind blowing chocolate cake ever but it is perfect to keep in the cupboard for those emergency chocolate moments. All you need is one of these pots, butter, a cup and a microwave and hey presto – you have a satisfying chocolate cake.
Destrooper-Olivier Belgian Butters – These waffle crisp biscuits were delicious and so very more-ish. I have to admit that between the three of us we polished off the whole pack in one sitting.
