As I write this I can hear wind and rain howling at my windows. It is August and we’ve had wind and rain for the past few days. Sometimes I think maybe, just maybe we should pack up and move to sunnier climes, somewhere like Australia. Just sell up and go, there are plenty of lovely houses for sale in Sydney, maybe we could go there?
I’m passionate about Wales and, like so many of my fellow country people, am full of pride, especially when it comes to the Six Nations Rugby!
I have everything that I need here, and more. Just a short walk from my house and I pass by a canal, a park, lakes, ponds, forests and wildlife. Just a short drive from my house and we are in a town, which while small caters for most and boasts free parking. Forty minutes in the car and we’re away from a peaceful town and soaking up the busy city vibe in Cardiff.
I may moan about the fact that there aren’t many decent pubs around here and that I can never get a taxi when I need one (see Snapchat on a weekend for that!). I know that there are plenty of bad areas around here, but I also know where the good areas are.
I loved growing up climbing the trees, exploring the farms and the mountains and I really hope that Aria follows in my footsteps. Wales is my forever home and I hope that it is my daughter’s too.
Do you love where you live? Could you emigrate?
