The next up in my ‘Meet the Welsh Bloggers’ series has fast become a good friend of mine, despite the fact that I’ve not yet met her! Jo of First Time Valley Mam is in my close support network of local blogging mam’s and she is fantastic. Jo writes about her life raising her autistic son in the South Wales Valleys.
Firstly, tell me a bit about yourself and your blog:
I’m Jo, I blog over at firsttimevalleymam. I’m from the South Wales valleys I’m 32, and my son is 3. My blog is fast becoming my little baby! It’s where I document all Z’s milestones with a few other random pieces put in for good measure!
What do you love most about living in Wales?
I love living in wales, after being a children’s rep and visiting the alps amongst other places, Wales is where I can see me always living. We take for granted the views, the scenery and just what it has to offer in general, we even have the most castles than anywhere else in the world! We love going to the park and seeing the castle. As I’m from the valleys we’re a little cheaper than Cardiff, and again I love that fact!
What, if anything, is your least favourite thing about living in Wales?
The least thing I like about wales is the stigma we in the valleys have attached to it. We’re always the worst place to live, we’re always the first on the documents for the bad places, there are bad places everywhere. The further away from any cities you’ll go you’ll have bad places, just because we have a few bad apples it don’t mean our whole tree is bad. People who come to ‘view’ us only see the bad apples. That’s not fair!
What made you decide to start a blog?
I decided to write a blog as on online diary for Z’s milestones. To document my journey of an autism diagnosis.
What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?
Think my highlight is actually meeting other bloggers going out to meals and being able to chat and get some good advice from them as they have been in the blogging field for a lot longer than I have!
Who are your favourite Welsh bloggers?
My favourite welsh bloggers would be our little tribe!
