Welcome to my ‘Meet The Welsh Bloggers’ series, where every week I introduce you to a new Welsh blogger, or a blogger living in Wales. This week is the turn of Jamie from Explore with Ed, Jamie is a photography who writes about his love of food, travel and cruising.
Firstly, tell me a bit about yourself and your blog …
I’m Jamie and I’ve lived in the tropical paradise of South Wales my whole life, spending summers at Barrybados and the Gower, accompanied by a bag of chips or Joe’s ice-cream. I’m a filmmaker and photographer under the name of Nutty Pear, working with another blogger and friend of mine, Hannah.
Explore With Ed is a food and travel blog sharing great places to eat and experience in Wales and beyond through pictures. I particularly love shedding light on cruise travel and have enjoyed exploring Europe by sea, visiting Belgium, France, Holland, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
What do you love most about living in Wales?
Spending time with family and friends is important to me, so I’m really lucky to have most of them dotted around South Wales. Besides that; the changing seasons, rolling hills, beautiful beaches, Welsh cakes, cheery folk… I could go on!
What, if anything, is your least favourite thing about living in Wales?
As much as I love how dramatic and dynamic our weather can be, it can sometimes throw plans into jeopardy, particularly with photography. I’ve seen my fair share of overcast coastal shoots, surprising sunsets (where’s my camera?!) and rained-off summer parties.
What made you decide to start a blog?
Explore With Ed started as a passion project after finishing my film degree at University. I wanted an outlet for my growing passion for photography and have always had an interest in food and travel.
What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?
There’s so many, but I think it’s between picking up two Blog Award nominations in 2016 and my first press trip abroad. I flew to Rome and boarded a cruise ship, stopping off in Cannes to explore a French perfumery and medieval village, as well as a winery near Barcelona.
Who are your favourite Welsh bloggers?
I love meeting other bloggers and reading about their stories and experiences. I met Leanne at an event hosted by The Celtic Manor, one of my favourite places that’s right on our doorstep.
I feel very fortunate to be part of the food blogging community in and around Cardiff as they’re a lovely bunch of people.
