Homeware Haul : September/October 2016

I’ve seen a lot of gorgeous homeware pieces pop up lately and I haven’t been able to resist purchasing a few bits here and there. A lot of shops really seem to have uppped their homeware game lately, even shops that I wouldn’t usually consider visiting for homeware such as New Look are stocking gorgeous little pieces at the moment.

UK Homeware Haul September and October 2016 including a glitter wall unicorn from Home Bargains

As  I’ve bought quite a few new bits I thought I would film a little homeware haul for you guys. I’ve been shopping in Primark, New Look and Home Bargains, we’ve even bought a new bed from IKEA!

Most of these items unfortunately aren’t available on line, but the most amazing one is! The Unicorn Head can be purchased from Home Bargains for the bargain price of £6.99 here.

9-12 Months Baby Girl Clothing Purchases January 2016

I love buying baby clothes, I rarely buy clothes for myself now, just Aria. I think it is because I know Aria’s clothes will look good on her, where as what I think will look good on me usually doesn’t! She has a ridiculous amount of her current size clothing, 6-9 months, so I’ve started buying 9-12 months in readiness. I splashed out on a few items from Marks & Spencer, Asda and Primark in January, they are all so gorgeous I just had to share.

You may or may not know that I worked in Marks & Spencer over Christmas, I obviously had to make the most of my discount card before handing it in when my contract ended at the end of January. The Summer cat hat is size 6-18 months and is way too big for teeny tiny Aria, I knew it would be but I couldn’t leave it there. One day it will fit. The two pack of leggings are beautiful, I love the knee detail on the pink pair. The floral playsuit was quite expensive at £16, but look at it! How cute will she look wearing this playsuit and the hat together in the Summer, if she ever grows…

These pink floral jeans are another item that will be perfect for the Summer, I picked them up in Asda of all places, I think that both the jeans and the Primark jumper look more like Next clothing, but thankfully cost a fraction of the price. I really should have bought the jumper in 6-9 months to wear now as it will likely be the Summer by the time it fits her so we may not get a lot of use out of this.

What are your favourite shops for baby clothing? Have you started buying Summer clothes yet?

What I Wore : Retail Job Interview

A little while back I decided to leave my career behind and concentrate on my baby, unfortunately we couldn’t afford for me not to work at all so I decided to attempt to find a job in retail. I haven’t had a job interview for years, the ones that I have had have been for admin jobs, I really was clueless as to what to wear for a job interview in the retail sector. I settled for smart casual and the job search was actually very successful, I was given three interviews and offered two jobs, so I can only assume that what I wore was more than acceptable.

I decided to wear an all black smart casual outfit, settling for trousers and flat shoes as that is how I feel more comfortable. A comfortable outfit is key, a killer outfit will do you no favours if you feel uncomfortable.

I read somewhere that hair should be tied back during interviews so I popped mine back with a bump at the front (which I can now see was a little wonky!). I kept my make-up minimal, I wanted to look smart not overdone.

Again, jewellery was kept to a minimum, I wore my Wedding ring and a ring that I always wear on my other hand, my Michael Kors watch, and my Pandora bracelet. The watch hid my tattoo on my wrist, even though a lot of shops allow you to have tattoos on show I personally think that it is best to cover them up in interviews.

You don’t have to spend a fortune, my whole outfit (bar jewellery) came from Primark, it looked smart and felt comfortable.

What is your go to interview outfit?

Christmas Outfits for Baby Girls
I’m seriously so excited about celebrating Christmas as a family of three this year, mush to Spencer’s disapproval I have gone a little crazy and bought Aria some amazingly cute baby girl Christmas outfits, and of course headbands!

baby girl christmas party dress blue cinderella dress with royal blue headband

First up is a party dress, everyone needs a Christmas party dress right? This one came from TK Maxx and is by the brand Cinderella. It comes with the cutest little bloomers to wear underneath. They don’t have this exact dress available on the website but they have plenty of similar dresses available here. the shoes were a bargain from Primark, Aria insists on pulling them off and eating them as soon as I put them on her which is why I only ever buy cheap shoes. The headband is available from eBay, I bought it thinking that it was the same colour as the dress but when it turned up I realised it most definitely was not the same colour. Costing just £1.79 including postage the headband was a great buy, the seller is based in the UK which is great for when you need it in a hurry and is available in a variety of colours.

I couldn’t resist this dress when I saw it in Matalan, I thought it was quite cheap as it was just £8 and came with tights too. The tights are way too big for Aria, they always are when I buy them in an outfit set, they don’t look too bad in this photo but are too big for her to wear out and about. The headband is actually one that I bought a while ago to wear with her Welsh rugby sleepsuit, but it is the perfect Christmas headband too. The headband comes in several colours, is just 99p with free postage and the seller is based in the UK.

This headband has been splitting opinions in our house, I absolutely love it, Spencer on the other hand thinks that it is ridiculous. This beautiful headband costs £15 from Etsy, it is available in several colour options and the seller is based in the UK. Standard postage costs £1.50 and there is the option of paying an extra £3 for a rush order. The seller, Roses and Bows, has a fantastic range of Christmas headbands and bows in stock, as well as plenty of other beautiful items for all year round, I think I’ll be purchasing Aria’s birthday party hat from here too.

Christmas jumpers are an essential as far as I’m concerned. Everyone needs a Christmas jumper or two. This jumper from Matalan plays music. Aria gets very confused when the music plays and loves to pull and chew on the various balls and decorations on the jumper. The leggings are part of a set from Asda.

As I said above everyone needs a Christmas jumper or two, Aria has two because I couldn’t decide which one I preferred. This one also came from Matalan. The jeggings were a complete bargain and cost something like £2.50 from Primark.

Have you bought any festive clothing for your little ones?

What My Baby Wore #17

We’ve had another week with a poorly baby, she is really full up with a cough and cold, her chest is rattling and she is feeling super sorry for herself so again there aren’t many photos this week. The first photo shows how sorry for herself she has been feeling, the second photo was a rare five happy minutes and I absolutely love it!

As usual I have linked to the items where they are available on-line. Scroll right to the end to link up your baby related clothing posts.
