Review : Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar
The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. The earth-shattering lip lacquer from Rimmel London

Yes, I’m jumping on another bandwagon. Rimmel Apocalips are all over the blogosphere right now, but there is good reason for that. They are actually quite impressive.
I really like the packaging of these, it is quite funky and really eyecatching. The applicator has a little well in it which collects products and means that one dip more than enough for one application.
This is super pigmeneted and the formula is just wonderful! It is creamy, opaque and lasts for hours. The first time I wore it I was amazed, I think annoyed my friends a little with my constant updates of how I still hadn’t touched it up! I had a meal and plenty of drinks and this did not budge. The gloss does wear off after a good couple of hours but you are left with a stain which still looks lovely and didn’t dry my lips out, bonus.
Rimmel Apocalips are available in 8 shades and priced at £5.99 for 5ml of product. I bought mine from Boots.

NOTD : Cold as Ice
I’ve seen this nail look floating around the internet quite a lot recently, it is so apt with all of the snow and ice that we’ve been having that I couldn’t resist copying. I love the combination of glitter and pale blue, so winter-y.
I used two coats of Barry M Blue Moon and one coat of Rimmel Disco Ball. Two polishes in completely different leagues in my humble opinion. I usually like Barry M polishes but I find Blue Moon to be quite watery and not very nice to apply, I did manage to get away with two coats here but I could have done with at least one more coat in reality. The Rimmel Disco Ball however is a lovely nail varnish and applies really well. My favourite glitter top coat by far.

Empties

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash. This seemed to last forever! When I first started using this it seemed to work miracles for my skin, then after a while my ‘bionic skin’ found a way to beat it and hey presto, acne appeared again! This happens to me with every miracle product that I find, after a while my acne beats it 🙁   Would I re-purchase? Not at the moment as it isn’t working for me right now, after having a break for a while I probably would.

No7 Essential Moisture Night Cream. I’ve never bought into the whole business of separate day and night creams until I started receiving night creams in my beauty boxes. They converted me. After using up all of my night cream samples I decided to purchase this No.7 one and it did the job very well. Would I re-purchase? Yes.

Nelsons Pure & Clear Facewash. I’ve never really got on with this, it didn’t seem to do anything for my skin. I kept it in the shower to remove my make-up and eventually used it all up. Would I re-purchase? No.

Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash. I received this free sample a while back. It lathers up nicely and doesn’t leave the skin feeling tight. My only gripe with this is the smell. It has a really overpowering soapy smell which I’m not a huge fan of. Would I re-purchase? No.

Avon Hand & Nail Cream. I’ve had this for ages, its been my fall back for when I run out of other hand creams. The fact that its just a fall back says it all ready. There is nothing wrong with this, it just isn’t as nourishing as other hand creams that I use. Would I re-purchase? No.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation – Ivory. I can’t believe that I forgot to review this foundation, bad blogger! I tend to buy a cheaper foundation for day time wear, this was my choice for a while. It didn’t keep me matte for 12 hours but it did keep the shine at bay a little longer than some other foundations. Would I re-purchase? Yes.

Lavera Hand Cream sample from February JolieBox. This isn’t the best hand cream that I’ve ever tried but far from the worse. Would I re-purchase? No.

KIMIA Rejuvenating Facial System sample from February JolieBox. I must say this product did really impress me. They claim that you will experience the Kimia glow when using this product and I must admit that my skin did look a lot plumper and brighter when using. Would I re-purchase? At £74 for the full size unfortunately no.

Mudd Original Facemask. I’m not sure what to think of this. My skin broke out quite badly after using this two weeks ago and hasn’t calmed down since. I know that this could be because its drawn a lot of the ‘crap’ out. I may purchase another one or two to see how it reacts.

Looking forward to…
4.5.12 – 8.5.12 being off work 🙂 I decided to book Friday and Tuesday off to make the most of the bank holiday, hello five day weekend!
4.5.12 I’m going to Red Hot Buffet World with some of the girls. I’ve never been there before and am really looking forward to it. I’ve figured that I need to be in there at least six hours, and that is just for the puddings!! As well as the food I’m looking forward to the company, I love a catch up with my girls over food.
6.5.12 I’m going to Cardiff with the girls to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We’re starting at 4 so it could be very messy!
26.5.12 Spencer and I are going to a friends Wedding reception at The Celtic Manor.

What have you got planned for the month ahead?

Festive NOTD

I was so excited to see the arrival of my festive nail foils yesterday. I ordered them from eBay on Sunday night and hoped that they would turn up in time for the Xmas Blogger Meet, which is of course tonight!

I’ve never attempted any kind of nail wraps before so I set to work straight away. The pack contains 16 foils so I did an accent nail and used 8 of the wraps, which means that I can use the remaining 8 for my works Christmas party next week.

For the accent nail I used two coats of GOSH Holographic and lots of coats of Rimmel Disco Ball.

It took me roughly two hours to do! I did stop for food during that two hours and it certainly didn’t seem to take that long. As I said though it is my first time applying any of this type of thing so I’m hoping that it will get easier with practice.

As you can see the wraps have a lovely holographic shine to them.

These were taken after my shower this morning and I’m very pleased to say that they are still intact! The packet states that you remove them with warm soapy water, which made me worry about them coming off in the shower.

They certainly aren’t perfect, they’re quite rough around the edges but I’m no expert and I’m not claiming to be. I am pleased with how they have come out for my first attempt.

These were unbelievably cheap, they cost just £1.89 with free delivery and there are loads of designs to choose from. I ordered mine from eBay on Sunday night and they arrived yesterday (Thursday). I’ve rushed this post up this morning as you may still have time to order them for delivery before Christmas.

Are any of you going to the Xmas Blogger Meet tonight? If so, please come say hi! I’m getting quite nervous now and have erupted in spots. I always do before a blogger meet, stupid nerves! So yeah, come say hi to the spotty nervous one with festive nails!!

FOTD – Office Neutrals

Hi all, I decided its about time I did another FOTD as I haven’t done one for ages! My Urban Decay Naked palette recently arrived and I haven’t stopped admiring it since! This has become my new go to palette for work – sorry MUA Heaven & Earth, I do still love you, we’re just on a break!

I used Rimmel lasting finish foundation in ivory, Rimmel blusher (part of set), ELF HD Powder, MUA black pencil eyeliner (along botton lash only), Eyeko Magic Eyes Mascara, HD Brow Kit and of course the Urban Decay Naked palette.

I used Virgin all over the eye and Buck in the crease.

What is your go to make-up for a working day? I’m quite boring and tend to reach for the same things everyday.
