*Disclosure – We received a complimentary three night stay at Sands Resort Hotel & Spa with breakfast and dinner on one evening in exchange for an honest review*
We were recently invited along to Four in a Bed winning Sands Resort Hotel & Spa in Cornwall, a family friendly hotel, to enjoy one of their baby and toddler breaks. A baby and toddler break at Sands Resort includes use of the facilities, kids clubs, dinner on one evening, a listening service and so much more.
The Room
We stayed in a contemporary suite which was upgraded to a sea view, the view across Porth and Newquay was absolutely stunning, and would be well worth the small of fee of £20 to upgrade. The room was clean, tidy and spacious. I really liked that the kids had their own, separate room. The kids room had two single beds and a fixed cot, we were also able to hire a travel cot free of charge so that Carrie could sleep in our room with us.

The spacious room included a bath (albeit a very small bath) with shower over, two sinks, a sofa, dressing table, mini fridge, vast wardrobe space, a TV, a PlayStation (with games available to hire from reception) and much more.

The lack of lifts in the hotel made staying on the first floor with a small baby in a pushchair a little inconvenient, though this was easily resolved by leaving the pram in the reception area of the hotel. The reception is always manned and there are security cameras so we felt confident to leave it. There are also prams available to hire which could save the hassle, but they may be snapped up during the busier times.
The Family Friendly Facilities
Our favourite thing about Sands Resort was without a doubt the array of facilities on offer. With an indoor and outdoor pool, soft play, parks, a maze, a bouncy castle during peak season, buckets & spades to hire, kids clubs and even a playstation in the room there is some form of entertainment whatever the weather.

The hotel suits all family types, for those who like some alone time while on holiday there is a kids club, a baby sitting service and a listening service. Adults can chose to dine in the adults only section of the on-site restaurant or together as a family in the family area. We didn’t take advantage of any of these services as we had Carrie who we wouldn’t want to leave, but if she was a little older we would have loved to have put them both into the kids club one morning while we enjoyed a treatment at the on-site spa.
The Food
Our package included breakfast each morning throughout our stay and one evening meal. We enjoyed the food and so decided to pay to dine at the on site restaurant for the rest of our stay. We were impressed with all of the food that we ate during our stay and the service received. Though the menus weren’t bursting with choice, there was something for everyone.

On our first morning at Sands Resort we helped ourselves to an all you can eat breakfast, for the rest of our break they switched to an order at the table service to save wastage during their quieter period. Both the buffet and the ordered breakfasts were delicious.
As you can see, Aria thoroughly enjoyed the puddings!

Off Site – The Local Area
There is so much to do at Sands Resort that you really don’t need to venture off site, but, as it is situated in such a beautiful part of the country it would be a real shame not to explore the surroundings while you are there. During our stay we took trips into both Newquay and Watergate. Both have lovely beaches and surfers aplenty! We enjoyed exploring the town in Newquay and had a delicious lunch at Jamie’s Fifteen in Watergate.
