When Butlin’s got in touch to ask if we would like to spend a week at their Minehead resort in May we jumped at the chance, we’ve been along to their Just For Tots weeks before and Aria has thoroughly enjoyed them so we couldn’t wait to get stuck in again! We stayed in their newly refreshed Bayside Apartments, previously part of a timeshare but back on sale in 2018, with beautiful views over Minehead beach and sea. The relaxing apartment perfect for Spencer and I, the days packed full of entertainment perfect for our very own tot, Aria. (scroll to the end for an apartment tour).
When we arrived at the apartment we were instantly blown away by the views, and as the day went on and the sun started to set the view just kept improving. Both the living room and the master bedroom over looked the most perfect setting, so much so that we slept with the curtains wide open so that we didn’t miss out! View aside, the apartment was clean, tidy and ticked all of the boxes for us. With a fully fitted kitchen including a dishwasher and washer/dryer, an ensuite in the master bedroom and a separate bathroom it provided everything that we needed. The daily housekeeping was a very welcome bonus, we didn’t even have a chance to use our dishwasher because our friendly cleaner did the washing up for us, which really made for a super relaxing break.
As well as our apartment for the week, Butlin’s also provided us with a premium dining plan. The premium dining plan gave us access to both The Yacht Club and The Deck restaurants, although The Yacht Club was closed during our stay. The Deck provided more than ample choice for our breakfast and dinner needs. With a hot buffet and several chef stations we were spoiled for choice. All of the food that we ate was served hot and delicious. The chef stations seemed to be great at catering for dietary requirements, although we didn’t have any I overheard someone requesting dairy free pancakes, and they happily made these.
The entertainment schedule was jam packed. Apart from a small lull at around dinner time there was pretty much always someone performing, usually several people in various venues across the resort. Aria absolutely loved watching the shows and we saw so many, including Mr Bloom (my personal favourite!), The Teletubbies, The Skyline Gang, a virtual screening of Justin Fletcher, Mr & Mrs Potato Head and so, so many more. The Just For Tots entertainment didn’t stop at the shows, there was an indoor fair suitable for under 5’s, a Playdoh session, swimming, soft play, donkey rides, and so, so much more. I’m sure it would be impossible to take in all of the entertainment in just five days.
The staff at Butlin’s Minehead are all super friendly and helpful. The Red Coats roaming the resort are always smiling and happy to stop and chat, as well as being very thorough, our cleaner was always happy to have a chat and couldn’t do enough for us, the booking in guys at the restaurant made Aria smile everyday, she got to the point where she would get excited when nearing the restaurant as she knew she would be seeing them. Candi from The Skyline Gang even knew Aria’s name and encouraged Aria to go sit with them for a photo when she suddenly came over all shy, we still don’t know how, apparently she is magic!
As well as being a fun week the Just For Tots break also did our three year old the world of good, by the end of the break her confidence had visibly improved and we couldn’t believe how much she had come on since we went last year. Just last year they had to stop a fair ride to let her off as she screamed, this year she rode that same ride time and time again. The only downside is Aria’s constant nagging, most days she asks if she can go back to Butlin’s tomorrow!
