Meet The Welsh Bloggers blog series interviewing Welsh bloggers - This week is Charlotte of Wonderfully Bookish - a book review blog

Firstly, tell me a bit about yourself and your blog:

Hi! I’m Charlotte, a 21-year-old book blogger from Newport. I graduated in September with a degree in Film & TV Production, and I now work as a self-employed virtual assistant. I love my job! My blog, Wonderfully Bookish, is dedicated to all things bookish and wonderful. Reading is one of my biggest hobbies so I post a lot of book reviews, as well as guest posts, author interviews and whatever else takes my fancy. What do you love most about living in Wales?

It’s so green and hilly! I went to university in a little town near Liverpool and although it was also very green, it was completely flat. I missed the hills and the sheep! I also love how patriotic people are to Wales. It makes such a great home. There are a lot of great authors from Wales too. I have the pleasure of living 15 minutes away from Cardiff, the birthplace of Roald Dahl.

What, if anything, is your least favourite thing about living in Wales?

A lot of events and things that I want to go to are so far away – sometimes it’s like Wales doesn’t exist! When a band does a tour for example, they’ll go everywhere in England and maybe one or two places in Scotland, and nowhere else. A lot of book events like author tours and things always happen in London, and although geographically South Wales is fairly close, it’s still a couple of hours away!

What made you decide to start a blog?

I started my blog in October 2015 as a general blog; it was just a way to write down anything I fancied writing about, but mainly books. I later decided to turn it into just a book blog because it was all I was writing about and I thought it would be better to give it a ‘brand’ or a specific niche. Now I’m so happy I did because I LOVE my blog and I love the community! I’m so proud of how far I’ve come with my blog.

What has been the highlight of your blogging career so far?

Oh, there are so many! I love every single time I get an email asking to take part in a new blog tour, and always get excited when a new ARC (a review copy) of a book comes through my door. It’s an amazing feeling! The biggest highlight though has got to be when I got an email from Taskerly, the virtual assistant agency I work with, asking if I’d like to be a virtual assistant. That sent my heart soaring. I wanted to be a virtual assistant for ages (I put on my ‘about’ page that it was my dream job), so I couldn’t believe it might actually become a reality. Now I’ve been doing it for a few months and I love it!
