I’ve dreamt up many scenarios for a beautiful maternity photoshoot, I had visions of me wearing a floral crown and a long, white flowing dress while prancing around in a meadow at Sunset. I had visions of beautifully posed photos taken in a photography studio with props a plenty. When the time came around I decided that, actually, this was not what I wanted at all. Although these images would have been stunning, they wouldn’t really have portrayed me.
We decided instead to go with a photoshoot that would be special to us; which of course was a) involving the whole family and b) a memorable location. A location shoot really is perfect for capturing those extra special memories. Our shoot took place in the area that I grew up playing in, where we walk Dobby and where Aria and her little sister will also grow up playing.
Although we did a small selection of posed photos, the majority of the photos was just us, doing what we do when we visit that special place. Having fun and enjoying time as a family. Relaxed and natural, with the help of our fab photographer, Jenny Giles, who really helped to put us all at ease.
For me personally, the best thing about the natural, relaxed shoot was that Aria just ran around being Aria, the photos really show off her true cheeky nature, even down to her kissing me just so that she could wear some of my lipstick! I’m sure if we were in a studio those natural moments wouldn’t have presented theirselves.
When preparing for the photoshoot we decided that twinning was indeed winning and that we would all sport cheerful yellow clothing. Spencer, organised as ever, picked up his shirt from Next that very morning, and Aria and I wore our gorgeous dresses gifted to us from JoJo Maman Bebe.
Thank you Jenny Giles Photography for providing us with real memories to look back on and to cherish.
