I’ve decided to be quite fancy with my Christmas wrapping this year. One of the main things that I am super excited about is my salt dough gift tags. When I received an email asking if I would like to try some products from Tala the letterpress cookie cutters* instantly jumped out at me, they looked pretty much spot on for part of my Christmas wrapping project.
The set comes with star, heart and scalloped cutters, letterpress stamp, seven pre-set words/phrases and two sets of alphabet letters. You have the option of using the cutters in the pack and inserting the stamps into the two lines of the cutter or using the letter press to stamp without the cutter.
I wanted to make personalised star tags for our Wild West themed Christmas party, I chose to use my set of star cookie cutters* from Tala for these as they were more ‘Sheriff’ looking, I then stamped the letters into them using the letterpress stamp.
The in built stamp in the cutters is a great idea but it can be a bit fidgety swapping and changing the letters in them. If you were to make a lot of cookies with the same stamp these would be great but if you are swapping the letters each time I recommend using the letterpress instead.
I wish I’d thought about something like this for the Wedding, how cute would a batch of cookies/Welsh cakes with our names in them have been!
I used a straw to cut out the hole for the string in my gift tags and followed this salt dough recipe. Keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming Christmas wrapping post to see how they look on the presents.
